Analogy - Computer and Human Brain

Computer analogous to Human Brain

HumanBrain

Analogy Concept (computer)                                       Target Concept (Human Brain)

  • Ø  Computer use electric signals and brain uses chemical signals to send messages.
  • Ø  Both transmit information.
  • Ø Computer have a memory that can grow by adding chip but bain memory is grown by daily  lifeexperiences.
  • Ø  Both can adapt and learn
  • Ø  Both have evolved over time.
  • Ø  Both need energy to work.
  • Ø  Both can be damaged.
  • Ø  Both can do math and other logical tasks.

Breaking Analogy

Computer
Human Brain
The computer needs electricity to keep working.
The brain needs nutrients like oxygen and sugar for power
It is easier to fix a computer - just get new parts.
There are no new or used parts for the brain.
There IS an "off" for a computer. When the power to a computer is turned off, signals are not transmitted.
There is no "off" for the brain - even when an animal is sleeping, its brain is still active and working.
The computer is very much faster at doing logical things and computations.
Slow as compared to computer
Computer shapes, sizes, designs, patterns are variable.
Human brain has a fixed weight and shape.
